Set of activities and procedures that allow illegally obtained money to be introduced into the cycle of legal economy in order to conceal its origin. It is one of the main strategies that criminal organizations use to protect themselves from law enforcement authorities. It can be done by altering the form of the money to avoid identification, or by transferring it to tax havens or countries with more lax financial controls.
